- Why "Niner" instead of "nine"?
- Two-syllable "nine" blurs into German "nein" (no) over radio. "Niner" is unmistakable — the same reason for "Juliett" and "X-ray".
- Is this the same as the military alphabet?
- Yes — NATO, ICAO, ITU, and FAA all standardized the identical word list in 1956. Able Baker is the retired predecessor.
- What about lowercase or accents?
