About PDF Metadata
Reveal a PDF’s hidden document properties: who made it, when, with what, and how many pages.
Upload a PDF to read its document-info dictionary — title, author, subject, keywords, creating app, producer, timestamps — plus the page count. Empty fields are skipped, not shown as blanks.
Metadata leaks surprisingly often (usernames in Author, paths in Creator). Check before sharing sensitive files. Everything stays in your browser.
Where it is used
Auditing files before publishing, checking for leaked author names, verifying producers, and cataloging documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can metadata identify me?
- Often yes — Author fields carry usernames and Creator fields carry app paths. Scrub before sharing sensitive documents.
- Why are some fields missing?
- They were never set or were stripped by an exporter. Missing metadata is normal, not an error.
- Does this read XMP metadata too?
- No — document-info dictionary only. Full XMP streams need a dedicated parser.
